Fall Pumpkin Door Swag

September 21, 2023 | DIY Seasonal Decor, Fall, Swag

As the leaves turn brilliant shades of crimson and gold, there’s no denying that autumn is just around the corner. And you know what that means – it’s time to embrace all things cozy, crisp, and pumpkin-spiced! Dive headfirst into the season’s spirit by creating one of our favorite fall decor items: the Fall Pumpkin Door Swag.

Fall Pumpkin Door Swag

There’s something undeniably magical about autumn. It’s a time when nature puts on its most enchanting display. We can’t help but feel inspired to bring that warmth and vibrancy into our homes. A Fall Pumpkin Door Swag is like a welcoming beacon. It’s more than just a decoration. It’s a celebration of the changing seasons and the anticipation of holidays like Halloween and Thanksgiving.

What makes the Fall Pumpkin Door Swag so special? Well, it’s the perfect fusion of style and tradition. It adds a touch of rustic charm to your entryway while nodding to the age-old tradition of adorning our homes with harvest-themed decor. Plus, it’s incredibly versatile.

Beyond its aesthetic appeal, the Fall Pumpkin Door Swag carries with it the promise of making cherished memories. As you carefully create your door swag, you’re not just picking out decorations but hand-picking moments of joy.

Whether you’re crafting it with loved ones or simply hanging it up with pride, there’s an undeniable sense of togetherness and warmth that comes with this tradition. Every time you approach your front door, you’ll be greeted by the cheerful sight of pumpkins, foliage, and perhaps even a few charming embellishments. It’s a reminder that fall is a time for gratitude, reflection, and appreciating the little things.

Directions

  • This project is so easy because you are going to start with your completed swag base. I like to add to these completed bases to make them a little more unique and fun.
  • Grab your sunflower mixed spray from your kit and cut down the stem. I want this long enough to anchor it, but we don’t need it as long as it comes. I like a 7” stem.
  • Dip the stem into your glue skillet, and then work that stem into your swag base. Leave a little space between the top of the swag base and the base of your stem for your bow. I also secured my stem with a cable tie anchored to the hanger of the swag base.
  • Begin placing your Pampas Grass into your design. I placed one of my pampas grass stems on the right side of the sunflower spray, and one on the left side a little higher than the first. I anchored the stem that reached the grapevine base with glue, and cable tied the stem that didn’t reach the base.
  • Add three more pampas grass stems below the gap you left for your bow, switching directions so the grass is still pointed away from the bow gap. Stagger these as well, placing one on one side and two on the other in a staggered line.
  • Add your bow into the gap you left for it with a cable tie.
  • Add a couple more tails to your bow by grabbing the ribbons you used for your bow, and cutting lengths of each. I decided about 16” for my tails. Gather the two ribbons at the top and secure it to the swag with a cable tie.

TIPS AND TRICKS

  • I added glue to each of my stems as I placed it into my swag, but you can absolutely do a dry run. Just stick your stems into your swag and you’re able to move them around until you’re happy with their placement.
  • We used both glue and cable ties to secure pieces to our swag. You will want to secure your pieces with cable ties when the stem doesn’t reach all the way into the grapevine wreath.
  • Fluff all your pieces as you go! This will make your design look more professional and put together.
  • I use a regular kitchen skillet to melt my glue sticks. This allows me to dip my stems into the glue and place them in my wreath easily. I definitely recommend this if you are making a lot of wreaths.

Fall Decorating Ideas with Pumpkin Door Swags

Fall decorating is all about embracing the warm and cozy vibes of the season, and there’s no better way to do it than with a charming Fall Pumpkin Door Swag. Beyond just hanging it on your front door, think creatively about how to make the most of this delightful decor piece. Consider pairing it with a rustic wooden sign that says ‘Welcome Fall’ for an inviting entrance that sets the tone for your home. If you have a porch or an outdoor space, place a couple of potted mums or ornamental kale beside your door to complete the autumnal look. Don’t forget to add a cozy doormat with a seasonal greeting or a whimsical pumpkin design. And for that extra touch of magic, string up some fairy lights around your door frame to create a warm, enchanting glow that will make your pumpkin door swag truly shine during those crisp fall evenings.
