Directions

  • Start with your Moss Twig Swag Base and spend a little time spreading out the grapevine pieces.
  • Now grab your Green Mini Leaf Bush. Cut the bush down into individual stems, keeping the stems as long as you can. This will make it a lot easier to work with!
  • Add the longest stems from your Green Mini Leaf Bush into the tie that holds the swag together. I added one stem to either side of the swag, and one to the middle of the bottom of the swag a little further down, just filling out that bottom part of the swag out even more.
  • Now add 3 more Green Mini Leaf stems to the top of your swag. I added one to the middle, and one on either side.
  • Now grab your Yellow Sunflower Bush. Cut the bush down into individual stems, keeping the stems as long as you can again.
  • Add these stems into your swag. I added one in the middle down toward the bottom, two above the tie in the loop, one to the right and one to the left, and 2 below the tie in the loop, again with one to the right and one to the left.
  • Now cut down your Plastic Button Grass Mix Bush. I love this to fill in the swag! Add these stems into your swag. I used 4 above the tie in the loop to fill in any gaps, and 3 below the loop.
  • “Shake hands” with your Blue Berry & Leaves Stem by spreading out the stems on the base. Add your Blue Berry & Leaves Stems to the swag, one above the tie in the loop, and two below the loop.
  • Now create your bow. Grab your 1.5″ Burlap Ribbon, cut an angle cut, then start by measuring your tail. I went with nice long tails, a little longer than the swag. Place it between the rods on your bow maker. Add a twist to your ribbon, right hand forward, left hand back, so the back of your ribbon is facing up.
  • Create your first loop by looping your ribbon, then placing it back into your center rods. I went with 6” loops. Scrunch it down and twist.
  • Create 5 more loops by following the same steps as your first loop, for a total of 6 loops, three on each side of the center pegs. Measure and cut your second tail with an angle cut to match your first.
  • Now, we’ll add a second layer to your bow. Continue with the same ribbon on your bow maker. I want to keep only 2 long tails, so I only have an inch tail, basically, and create 4 loops the same way as before, 2 on each side of the bow, with 5” loops. Cut another super short tail.
  • Now, using the same ribbon again, measure your first tail. I went a little bit shorter, about 18”-20” long.
  • Create 2 loops with this ribbon, the same way as before, 1 on each side of the bow, with a little bit shorter loops at 4” loops. Measure and cut your second tail to match your first.
  • Thread your cable tie behind your ribbon, then carefully remove the ribbon from the bow maker. Fluff and arrange your loops and tails. Tighten your cable tie, rotate it to the back of the bow, then tighten all the way.
  • Attach it to your swag using another cable tie, in the bow zone. I like using a bow with longer tails.
  • I like to weave my bow tails into my swag, giving it some nice movement and adding extra dimension to the piece.
  • Fluff any flowers or greenery, and your swag is ready!

TIPS AND TRICKS

  • Change your ribbons to make bows that match whatever type of decor you are creating. Let the versatility of this simple project shine!
  • Add embellishments like ribbon bows, pinecones, or berries for extra visual interest and seasonal flair.
  • Take some time to fluff and adjust the elements of your swag to maintain its fullness and shape, especially after hanging it up.
