Beehive Door Hanger Wreath Kit

Can we talk about the beehive base? How about let’s discuss the gorgeous yellow floral pieces? We definitely need to mention the adorable buzzing little bees, as well.

Oh, and the ribbons from the DIY handmade bow!  Honestly, there is so much to love about this kit. And putting it together has never been easier. I am so excited to walk you through this DIY wreath from start to finish.

I love kits! They come with just about everything you need to make your own door decoration just like this beehive door wreath kit. You only need a few things to make this that aren’t included in your kit and I am sure they are in your house already. things like hot glue, floral foam, floral pins, and wire cutters.

So go gather those items and let’s get started!

Directions

  • Decide where you want your focal to be on your beehive base. This is completely up to you. I chose the center at an angle. Dip your small floral foam and place it on your beehive base.
  • Secure it with floral pins to keep this craft nice and strong for years to come. Push your Fishtail Fern all the way up so they are nice and full.
Trim the stems leaving only about 1”
  • Begin creating your shape by manipulating your picks so you have leaves on the left and the right. Get the most out of your pieces by taking that extra few seconds by moving into place. Begin inserting on the left side creating a flow as you add. Maintain the line and keep it spaced out around your floral foam consistently.
  • Keep your greenery nice and wispy pointing out and down from the center of your design. Bring over your premade handmade bow. Grab a floral pin and tie her right onto the cable tie you had in the back. Pull tight and trim excess. Dip your floral pin into your hot glue pot before inserting it in your floral foam. Add her at the angle you added your greenery to keep your line cohesive.
  • Curl your bow tails. Try not to hide the bottom of your main hive.
Grab your beehive pick and section them out. Next, trim from the main bundle leaving about a 2” stem.
  • “Shake Hands” with your 1st pick making it nice and full to show its beauty. Place it up top amongst your greens. Pop the beehive out towards you to add some depth. Grab another piece, and trim it up a bit. Deconstruct it into smaller pieces to add detailed work supporting your bow. Step back and look where to place to keep your focal point looking fabulous.
  • Balance your design by adding towards the bottom as well. Insert here and there to accentuate your look. Be careful not to squish your bow as you add. Grab your buzzing bee pick and begin to trim them from the main stem. Take your longest piece to have them appear to be “swarming” from the hive and insert them first. This creates motion and whimsies with this spring and summer craft
  •  Trim some more pieces a little shorter to have all sorts of lengths as you add. Insert here and there. Fill in with any extra pieces to camouflage any foam where needed. Add your bees down on the lower section of your door hanger, repeating the same process as before on the top of your design.
  • Step back and manipulate where needed. And put that big old smile on your face for making this adorable little thing.

Where to Place Your Focal Point On Door Hangers?

This is a great question, y’all. And the beauty of the answer is that it is completely up to you. Personally, with this design, I liked the floral focal point coming from the center. It helped with the overall weight of the piece being evenly distributed with the large handmade bow and the detail work. It also helps so it will rest flat on your door. But, the thing about crafting is that there is no one-size-fits-all when it comes to your own DIY style. Just have fun!

Directions

  • Start by finding cutting the styrofoam so it is nestled inside of the Green Frankenstein Bucket so that it sits nicely inside and glue down. I like to use both Gorilla Glue and Hot Glue to really secure it for both now and long term.
  • Cut Black Garland Base into small sections and set your base, spreading for maximum coverage.
  • Prep your picks by grabbing your Purple Green Orange Felt Ball Twig Sprays. Sseparating them into smaller picks. You can also twist the black chenille around your finger to create a fun effect.
  • Trim your Glitter Eye Ball Picks and add to the stryofoam. Be sure to space them for the best visual display.
  • Cut and prep the White Black Chenille Curly Stems add some dimension to them by curling with your fingers to really give them life.
  • Stem back and look at your your centerpiece. Are thier bald or blank spaces? Fluff you black garland to fill and use the wires in your products from Keleas.com to really get the pieces where you want them.
  • Grab one of your Glitter Curly Velvet Ball Picks and trim the stem down to a couple of inches. Fluff out your pick, and then place it to the left of your bow, tucking it behind the bow to have it peek out from behind it.
