Ingredients
Directions
- Start by prepping your Bee Door Hanger Frame. I put a piece of floral foam on the frame, between the wings. I just glue it on with hot glue, then add some floral pins through the back.
- Break your Ruscus Greenery Bush down into a few pieces, then cut those pieces in half to make them a bit smaller. This is going to go around the perimeter of your floral foam block.
- Begin putting the pieces around the floral foam. I used one on each short side, and 2 on each longer side. This is going to create the base of our project.
- Grab 4 of your Yellow Wild Flower Berry Bushes, and add them into your project. I put one on either side of the greenery on the short edges of the floral foam.
- Now create your bow. Put your 2.5″ White Small and Large Dots on Black Ribbon on 10 Yard Roll on your bow maker. Create your first tail. I made a 20” tail, because I wanted my tails to be long. You can make your tails as long as you’d like.
- Using your bow maker, place your ribbon at the 20” mark in between the center rods, then twist the ribbon. Create your first loop, as large as you’d like your loops to be, by looping the ribbon, then placing it in between the center rods. I made 6” loops.
- Give the ribbon a strong twist again. Create 3 other loops, 2 on each side of your bow, just the same as you made the first. When your loops are all completed, cut your second tail the same length as your first.
- Put your 2.5″ Yellow Linen White Dots With Black White Dot Edge Ribbon on your bow maker. Create your tail, a little shorter than the previous tails. I went to about 16”.
- Now make your first loop, a little smaller than the first set of loops, following the same steps above. I made mine about an inch smaller than the larger loops. Create 2 loops this way. Cut your tail to match the length of the others.
- Grasp your ribbons and slowly pull them off the bow maker base. Loosely add your zip tie around the center of your wreath. Pull the ribbons the rest of the way off the bow maker. You will want to be careful so you don’t mess up the loops you just made. Turn your zip tie so it’s on the back of your bow. Fluff each section out, and separate your loops. Manipulate your tails down.
- Add a floral pin between the bow and zip tie, then tighten your zip tie. Attach it to your piece by pushing the floral pin into the floral foam.
- Grab a couple more of your Ruscus Greenery Bush pieces. Add them around your bow. I did 3 pieces right around the bow.
- Now prep your Honey Bee Pick with Grass by making sure your bee’s wings are pushed out and cut them off your pick. Add 3 bees to the top of your project and 3 to the bottom.
- Grab some of the grass from your Honey Bee Pick with Grass and add that in and around your bow as well, in the mid-zone, both above and below the bow.
- Take your piece off the wall and check around to make sure you can’t see the foam in any direction. If you can, cover it with moss, and your piece is good to go!
TIPS AND TRICKS
- Add a hanger to the back of your project to easily secure it to the wall and hang it up.
- Make this wreath your own! Change out the greenery or florals. Changing your greenery can also make a huge difference.
- I use what I like to call my glue skillet. It’s just a small kitchen electric skillet (that I obviously don’t use for cooking anymore!) That I melt glue sticks in. If you’re planning on making more than a couple of wreaths, this might be really helpful for you. Allowing you can just dip your stems in the glue.
What types of greenery and flowers work best for this project?
For the Jumbo Bumble Bee Door Hanger, you can opt for a variety of greenery and flowers to suit your personal style and seasonal preferences. Consider using faux greenery such as eucalyptus leaves, boxwood sprigs, or ivy vines for a lush and verdant backdrop. As for flowers, bright yellow blooms like sunflowers, daisies, or artificial wildflowers add a cheerful pop of color that complements the bee motif perfectly. You can also incorporate small accent flowers like white baby’s breath or tiny daisies for added texture and interest. Feel free to mix and match different types of greenery and flowers to create a custom look that reflects your creativity and aesthetic vision.
Is this door hanger suitable for outdoor use?
Yes, the Jumbo Bumble Bee Door Hanger is indeed suitable for outdoor use, provided that you take certain precautions to protect it from the elements. While the materials used in crafting the door hanger are generally durable, exposure to harsh weather conditions like rain, wind, and direct sunlight can cause them to deteriorate over time. To ensure longevity, consider applying a weather-resistant sealant to the finished project to help shield it from moisture and UV rays. Additionally, periodically inspect the door hanger for any signs of wear or damage, and make any necessary repairs or touch-ups as needed to keep it looking its best.
