How To Create A Bunny Wreath For Easter

Raise your hand if you love MOSS in your crafts. I have both of my hands way up high, because man, oh man, do I love MOSS. Especially when it is used in my floral designs. And a bunny wreath kit that comes with a moss-covered frame, is something dreams are made of? Am I right? I am right!

The best thing about this Teal Easter Door Wreath is that the MOSS is just a beautiful touch. Can’t you just see how beautiful it will be now on your front entryway for this Easter season? I can! So let me teach you how to get this look for your own home now. You won’t believe how simple it is!

The greenery in this bundle was picked on purpose y’all! Let me tell you why. First, it is beautiful and a perfect addition to support the moss base on our wreath. Second, it is really easy to work with, and we like convenience. Third, you can decide the length of greenery for your design completely; it is completely up to your preference. You decide if you like it longer or shorter. I love creating kits that still allow for my crafting friends to have some freedom in making their designs unique to their own styles. Everyone loves the freedom to be creative, right?

Ingredients

Directions

  • Grab your supplies from the kit and supplies from home to assemble.
Place your floral foam in the bottom center of the wreath frame.
  • Dip the ends of your u-pins in hot glue to secure them through the wreath frame. Go through the grapevine and push in nice and solid. Add 3-5 pins to make it extra stable, adding 2 from the bottom, one on the side, and even coming from the back of the wreath base.
  • Move supplies to the side to make your bow. Grab your ribbon and determine the length of bow tails you want. I did 14-16 inches.
Pinch and twist your ribbon, creating your first loop about 5-6” long. Scrunch it and twist. On the other side, pull to make your second loop.
  • Repeat making another set of loops, a little shorter in size this layer. You will create a 2 loop bow (4 loops in all). Creating a matching tail, trim straight edge to begin with. We will add detail later.
  • Secure your bow in the center using a cable tie in the center, NOT pulling all the way tight just yet. Fluff your ribbons. Add a floral u-pin into the cable tie, and then pull tight. Trim the excess of cable tie.
  •  Bring your bunny base back over. Grab your greenery adding a bit to start. Push the greenery so that you have about a 2” stem.* (You decide which length you like best.)
  • Dip in glue and begin to shape up the base creating a spread on the greenery. Add 2 shorter pieces on the left and right, and a longer one in the middle to build your shape. Add shorter pieces on the bottom, pushing into foam on both sides coming down at an angle
  • Grab your bunny pick. I like her straight-up, staying symmetrical. But you decide. Determine the height you want on your bunny and trim the stem. Dip the stem in the glue pot and add it right into the foam straight on the center.
  • Be careful to pull the bunny’s bow back so you don’t accidentally get glue as you add your other embellishments. Bring your egg picks over and manipulate them before adding them to the foam. Bring greenery and flowers forward. Adjust eggs to your liking. Always play with pieces, shaping them, before adding.
  • Play with placement before securing it in place. I like the crisscross look of those egg picks. Space it out and then trim stems to the desired length. Grab your floral pins, dipped in glue, and add them directly into foam. Use 2 pins for both picks to secure, Come in from different angles for maximum stability.
  • Grab your bow to add to the foam. Add glue to your floral pin and add right in the center of the foam, covering your mechanics behind.
Add detail to your bow by trimming eggs from your picks. Hot glue 2 in the middle to hide the mechanics of the bow.
  • Bring greenery back and separate them a bit. Create smaller pieces so each piece has 2 leaves on it. Trim from your main wire to divide it into smaller sections. Add some touches of greenery toward the bow to soften your lines. Dip ends in hot glue and adds throughout, tight to the bow, creating a focal point with cohesive lines.
  • Curl up your ribbon tails or add a dovetail look instead.
Use Spanish moss to hide any foam that might be showing to create a complete, professional look.

How Long Should Ribbon Tails Be?

There is no exact answer to this as every project with a bow is different. For this craft, I wanted my bow tails to be pretty long since the bow is resting at the base of my design. This will help add dimension and a flow to my design as it catches a breeze from sitting out on my front door! So simple and so pretty, just by having some length of this beautiful ribbon.

What To Do With Your Excess Ribbon?

I love it when I have an extra ribbon from a project! This allows me an easy way to tie in my overall design to multiple spots within my home, or even the front of it. I can add more bows or even just tails to candlesticks, lanterns, and even my mailbox. Where else do you think would be great to add your excess ribbon to help you embellish more for the Easter season?

Glue Gun vs. Glue Skillet?

This depends really on how much crafting you do. I love my glue skillet because it is a little more convenient for me since I am always crafting. It helps with bigger projects, too! It makes my workspace a little cleaner. But, really there is no right way to hot glue. You do you, and just have fun creating!

  • Prep your picks by grabbing your Purple Green Orange Felt Ball Twig Sprays. Sseparating them into smaller picks. You can also twist the black chenille around your finger to create a fun effect.
  • Trim your Glitter Eye Ball Picks and add to the stryofoam. Be sure to space them for the best visual display.
  • Cut and prep the White Black Chenille Curly Stems add some dimension to them by curling with your fingers to really give them life.
  • Stem back and look at your your centerpiece. Are thier bald or blank spaces? Fluff you black garland to fill and use the wires in your products from Keleas.com to really get the pieces where you want them.
  • Grab one of your Glitter Curly Velvet Ball Picks and trim the stem down to a couple of inches. Fluff out your pick, and then place it to the left of your bow, tucking it behind the bow to have it peek out from behind it.
