Butterfly Wreath

Step into the whimsical world of spring with our delightful Butterfly Crossing Wreath! This gorgeous wreath features a charming yard stake as the focal point, adorned with the playful message “Butterfly Crossing.” Surrounding the stake are stunning yellow florals and butterfly picks, creating a simple yet stunning design that will add a touch of springtime cheer to any space.

Crafting your own Butterfly Crossing Wreath is a breeze, even for beginners! With just a few simple supplies and a sprinkle of creativity, you can create a wreath that celebrates the beauty of spring and the wonder of nature.

Ready to dive in and bring some fluttering magic into your home? We’ve gathered all the tips and tricks you need to create a Butterfly Crossing Wreath that’s as stunning as it is simple. So, grab your florals and butterflies, and let’s dive into crafting a wreath that will make your heart flutter with joy!

Directions

  • Choose the size base you’d like for your wreath. I decided on an 18” wreath base, because the yard stake we will be using in our wreath is the perfect length that I don’t need to cut the stake down. If you want a smaller wreath, you’ll need to cut your stake down.
  • Attach your Metal Butterfly Stake to your wreath by nestling it into the wreath, then using zip ties to keep it secure.
  • Now break down your Fern Boxwood Mixed bush into smaller stems. This bush can be torn apart with your hands, and then the ends can be trimmed with wire-cutters.
  • Begin adding these stems into your wreath, creating the perimeter. I added mine up both sides of the wreath, just about even with the “Butterfly Crossing” sign.
  • Push your Yellow Mini Daisy Bush flowers up a little on the stems, then cut into smaller stems.
  • When I use these Yellow Mini Daisy stems, I like to create little bundles of 2 stems. I pair them up and then add them to the wreath symmetrically, two on the right, two on the left, and one bundle straight up the middle.
  • Now break down the Button Leaf Hanging Bush into smaller pieces. I like the draping, but not as long as this bush is, so cutting the bush down helps with that.
  • I added the majority of the Button Leaf Hanging Bush stems to the bottom of the wreath, really camouflaging the end of the stake. I just made sure to add it symmetrically.
  • Now grab your 2 Yellow Butterfly Twig Stems. These are tricky to break down, so I like to use them as is. These are really well wired, so I like to wrap the twigs around my finger to give the stems even more movement. Cut the stem down to about 4”.
  • Add your 2 Yellow Butterfly Twig Stems into the wreath. I liked adding one to the left and one to the right of the wreath.
  • Add the last few pieces of your Fern Boxwood Mixed bush into any little holes you have in your wreath.
  • And voila! Your wreath is complete.

TIPS AND TRICKS

  • This is a really symmetrical wreath, so I suggest adding an even number of florals, etc. to each side of the wreath. This will make a really visually appealing wreath you’re sure to love!
  • If you love a bow, add one. If you want different colored florals, add those! This is your wreath. Make it your own!
  • I love my glue skillet. It’s a simple skillet for the kitchen that I melt my glue sticks in to allow me to just dip my stems in and easily add them to my wreath.
  • If you are worried about placement, do a dry run! You can just add your stems into the wreath without the glue and then move them around until you‘re happy with the placement. Then add your glue for your final placement!

What are some creative ways to incorporate additional embellishments into the wreath design?

Elevate your Butterfly Crossing Wreath by adding delightful embellishments! Consider weaving in small faux flowers for a pop of color, or tuck in miniature decorative birds to bring a touch of whimsy. Sparkling beads or gems nestled among the yellow florals and butterfly picks can add a hint of glamor and sparkle. Additionally, you might incorporate natural elements like twigs, feathers, or pinecones for a rustic charm. Don’t be afraid to mix and match textures and materials to create a wreath that truly reflects your personal style and creativity!
