Create the Perfect Fall Foliage Wreath

September 19, 2023 | DIY Seasonal Decor, Fall, Wreath Tutorials

Ah, autumn—the season of pumpkin-spiced everything, cozy scarves, and nature’s most breathtaking display of colors. As the leaves change and the air turns crisp, there’s no better way to welcome the season than with a beautiful Fall foliage Wreath. Imagine a charming grapevine wreath adorned with vibrant hues of fall foliage and a symphony of florals and greenery. It’s a timeless symbol of the season, celebrating nature’s artistry.

Create the Perfect Fall Wreath

A Fall Wreath isn’t just a decorative piece; it’s a doorway to the enchantment of autumn. It’s like Mother Nature’s canvas, where you can blend the rustic charm of grapevine with the vivid colors of fall. Whether it’s the fiery reds of maple leaves, the golden glow of sunflowers, or the deep purples of mums, each element tells a story of the season.

One of the joys of crafting your own Fall Wreath is the opportunity to infuse it with your personal touch. Do you adore the traditional harvest colors, or are you more inclined towards a modern, minimalist vibe? Perhaps you’d like to add a touch of whimsy with seasonal embellishments. Whatever your style, this Perfect Fall Wreath is a great foundation for your fall decor.

Crafting the perfect Fall Wreath is not only a delightful project but a way to express your love for autumn and its beauty. Whether you’re a seasoned DIY enthusiast or a beginner looking for inspiration, there’s a wreath just waiting to be crafted by your hands.

Directions

  • Start by shaping your Beige Phoenix Tail Fern and cutting the stem to about 1”. Begin adding those pieces around the perimeter of your wreath. I added 4, with a bit of space between each one.
  • Add both your Sunflower Pumpkin Eucalyptus Stem to your wreath. I created a transition point on the left side of my wreath where the stems transition from pointing up to point down. I placed 1 stem on either side of that, with one pointing up and one pointing down.
  • Break down your last stem into 4 pieces. I put two pieces on the bottom of the wreath, and two pieces on the top, to fill in and add more dimension to the wreath.
  • Add in your filler Beige Fern and Heather Spray bushes. I like to zig zap my filler bushes throughout the wreath, having one on the outside of the wreath and the next one on the inside. This adds a lot of dimension and movement to your wreath.
  • Grab your last couple of Beige Phoenix Tail Fern pieces, and add them to your wreath between the pieces you added earlier toward the inside of the wreath.
  • Add a wire for a hanger on the back and your wreath is ready!

TIPS AND TRICKS

  • Change out the colors or elements to make the wreath your own. Add a bow or other focal point. Use different greenery and florals. You could even use Christmas or Halloween elements to make it a totally different look! The best part of this wreath is that it’s so easily customizable!
  • I love my glue skillet. I just melt hot glue sticks in a regular kitchen skillet, which allows me to just easily dip my stems into the glue rather than trying to get my glue where I need it with a glue gun.
  • I added glue to some of my stems as I placed them into my wreath, but you can absolutely do a dry run. Just stick your stems into your wreath and you’re able to move them around until you’re happy with their placement.

How do I take care of a grapevine wreath?

To keep your grapevine wreath looking its best throughout the fall season, a few simple care steps can go a long way. First, avoid exposing it to direct sunlight or excessive moisture, as this can cause the wreath to fade or develop mold. If your wreath is outdoors, consider bringing it inside during heavy rain or extreme weather conditions. To prevent shedding, gently mist the wreath with water using a spray bottle every few weeks. Lastly, store your wreath in a cool, dry place when not in use to prevent it from becoming brittle or damaged. With these care measures, your grapevine wreath can maintain its natural beauty and charm all season long.

What can I do to personalize this wreath?

Personalizing your Perfect Fall Wreath is what it’s all about! Creating a wreath that’s uniquely yours and infusing it with your personal style. You could add a personalized monogram or a custom sign. Add decorative ribbon or a bow in colors that complement your home’s decor or evoke the autumn season. Incorporate small ornaments, such as mini pumpkins, acorns, or personalized tags, that resonate with your interests or family traditions. If you love a rustic look, wrap the grapevine with fairy lights for a cozy, warm glow during the evening. The possibilities are endless, allowing you to create a grapevine wreath that tells your unique story and adds a warm, personal touch to your fall decor.
