Make Your Own Fall Rustic Pumpkin Wreath

This Fall DIY Rustic Pumpkin Wreath has it all. The 3 different neutral pumpkins with a soft wash provide a fun texture to tie into the wispiness of the husk and wheat, the subtle beauty of the mustard berry, and the contrast of a heather bush to tie in those oranges and a tiny bit of greenery that scream fall.

With this look, you can dress up your home decor, no matter where you hang it. It is stylish, festive, and classy. So if this look is something you think you need in your life, and let me assure you it is… then stick around. I  promise I am a great wreath teacher. Let me show you step by step how to get this look in less than an hour.

The best part of this wreath is how simple it is to create. Simple but AMAZING! It gives off the look like it was purchased in one of those high-end craft boutiques. Let me teach you how to make one for yourself or sell in your Etsy shop. Watch as I teach you how to add the right embellishments. A beautiful handmade bow, and all the perfect rustic touches, you will have an amazing Fall DIY wreath

This piece is perfect to add to your front porch, hanging beautifully on your front door. Be sure to pair it with large pumpkins, either real or faux, accentuating the fall look from top to bottom. The soft oranges, the creams, the mustards, and the browns work so well together!

I just love everything about this wreath. You will too! Let’s get started.

Ingredients

Directions

  • With your Small Wheat and Corn Husk Wreath “Shake Hands” with it. In Design school we use that term regularly. It just means to prep it by maneuvering the pieces on your wreath to be full and fancy. Fluff, space, and shape your wires on your wreath.
  • Start by making a bow using your EZ Bowmaker. Add the 2.5″ Natural with Various color Pumpkins Ribbon back on the spool and measure a 16” tail. Gather the center and add into the dowels.
  • Make one 6.5” loop and dovetail the ends. Repeat with a pinch, twist, and loop method so that you will have 3 even loops on each side of your bow. A total of 6 loops in this layer. Pull another tail measuring about 16” long. Dovetail the ends.
  • Grab your 1.5″ Orange Brown Yellow Cream Square Plaid Ribbon. Be sure to start with a 14” tail as you insert into the center of your EZ Bow Maker. Begin your second layer, creating 5-5.5” loops. You will make 2 loops on each side, with a total of 4 loops.
  • Bring your natural pumpkin ribbon back. Creating 2 more loops, 4” in size. Be sure they are pinched nice and tight. Your tails should be much shorter than your 2nd layer.
  • Create a small bowtie look with your plaid ribbon to complete this 4th layer of your bow by placing in the center. It is called a Bowtie, because it has no tails. It is the perfect contrast to all the layers of your bow.
  • Run a cable tie along the center and pull off the bow. Tighten, not all the way, and fluff the loops and tails. Add another cable tie through the back and cinch the first one closed.
  • Fluff and fancify your bow, so take your time doing this. Cut down halfway through the plaid ribbon and cut about a 6” length. Fold over itself and tie around the center to hide the cable ties. Cut the extra ribbon from the back.
  • Bring your wreath back over and let’s start adding your fluffed pumpkin picks. Be sure to “Shake Hands” with each one before you begin working into the wreath. Begin to play with placement with your pieces to give you a visual image before you start using glue. Remember to go with the flow of your design, Be sure your picks match the natural curve.
  • Once happy, dip your pick stems into hot glue and add into your wreath base. You want to feel it go into the wreath to know it is nice and secure. Repeat with your next 2 picks, remembering not to interfere with your BOW ZONE. Be sure to spread your wheat and corn husk to help hide any stems.
  • Next let’s add in our filler bush, Orange Fern and Feather. Tear your filler bush into sections, trimming from the main stem if needed. Make sure they are fluffed and full as we insert 2 pieces in each section between your previously added pumpkin picks. Work them in your corn and wheat base.
  • Adjust your wreath so each piece, so far, is eye appealing before moving forward. Next, bring over your beautiful handmade bow and insert into your grapevine in your designated BOW ZONE. Using a zip tie, work it through your grapevine to secure. Trim excess.
  • Layer your tails and pull them through your wreath. Curl them up and make them look super cute.
  • Add some of your filler bush here and there around your wreath in your bow. Remember to keep that natural flow to maintain the cohesive, rustic look.

  • Start by finding cutting the styrofoam so it is nestled inside of the Green Frankenstein Bucket so that it sits nicely inside and glue down. I like to use both Gorilla Glue and Hot Glue to really secure it for both now and long term.
  • Cut Black Garland Base into small sections and set your base, spreading for maximum coverage.
  • Prep your picks by grabbing your Purple Green Orange Felt Ball Twig Sprays. Sseparating them into smaller picks. You can also twist the black chenille around your finger to create a fun effect.
  • Trim your Glitter Eye Ball Picks and add to the stryofoam. Be sure to space them for the best visual display.
  • Cut and prep the White Black Chenille Curly Stems add some dimension to them by curling with your fingers to really give them life.
  • Stem back and look at your your centerpiece. Are thier bald or blank spaces? Fluff you black garland to fill and use the wires in your products from Keleas.com to really get the pieces where you want them.
  • Grab one of your Glitter Curly Velvet Ball Picks and trim the stem down to a couple of inches. Fluff out your pick, and then place it to the left of your bow, tucking it behind the bow to have it peek out from behind it.
