Directions

  • Grab your first ribbon, then start by measuring your tail. I went with 8” tails. Pleat your ribbon up, and place it between the rods on your bow maker. Add a twist to your ribbon, so the back of your ribbon is facing up.
  • Create your first loop by looping your ribbon, then placing it back into your center rods. I went with large 6” loops. Scrunch it down and twist.
  • Create another loop by following the same steps as your first loop.
  • Repeat these steps until you have 3 loops on each side with your first ribbon.
  • Measure and cut your second tail to match your first.
  • Add your second ribbon to your bow maker. Start by measuring your first tail. I went with the same 8” tail. You can adjust these measurements to make your bow look as you’d like.
  • Create 4 loops the same way as before, 2 on each side of the bow, with the same 6” loops.
  • Measure and cut your second tail.
  • Add your third ribbon to your bow maker and follow similar steps for this ribbon. Measure your tail, again at 8”.
  • Create 6 loops the same way as before, 3 on each side of the bow, a little shorter with 5.5” loops.
  • Grab your first ribbon again, and add it to your bow maker. Measure and cut your tail a little shorter, at about 6”.
  • Create 2 loops the same way as before, 1 on each side of the bow, a little shorter with 5” loops.
  • Thread your cable tie behind your ribbon, then carefully remove the ribbon from the bow maker. Tighten your cable tie, rotate it to the back of the bow, then tighten all the way.
  • Cut a small piece of ribbon, about 8” long, to tie around the center of your bow. I love a narrower ribbon for this.
  • Fluff and arrange your loops and tails, and your bow is ready to go on your wreath!

TIPS AND TRICKS

  • Switch up your ribbons to create some unique looks, if you’d like. I think that wire-edged ribbons work best, but you can try a variety of sizes and patterns. This will switch up the way your bow looks and can help it match your wreath perfectly!
  • Make the bow your own! If you’d like more loops, add them. You can follow the same steps to create as many loops as you’d like.
  • If you’d rather use wire than a cable tie, 18 gauge works perfect for bows.

Where should I put my bow on my wreath?

The great news is that there’s no one “right” place for your bow; it’s all about getting your creative juices flowing. You can go for the classic look and plop it right at the top – that’s like putting the star on the Christmas tree. But why stop there? Feel free to mix things up! Place it off-center for a playful, quirky vibe that’s all the rage in modern decor. It’s like giving your wreath a trendy makeover. You can even try different spots until you find the one that makes you go, “Yep, that’s the winner!”

Can I use multiple bows on my wreath?

Absolutely, you can go all out with multiple bows on your wreath. This is where your creative flair gets to shine even brighter. You can go for a balanced look with one on each side or create a whimsical and abundant feel with a cluster in the center. It’s all about what speaks to your festive heart. It’s your wreath! So, don’t be shy; it’s all about spreading joy, after all!
