October 27, 2022 | Christmas, DIY Seasonal Decor, Wreath Tutorials

Have we got a fun Christmas Candy wreath for you! This peppermint candy wreath is adorable and bursting with sweet treats and Christmas joy all over the place.

Peppermint Candy Wreath For Your Front Door

The beautiful eucalyptus and pine greenery grounds the pops of color and candy that will make you want to indulge in your favorite seasonal treats. Bright pops of red picked up from the peppermint and candies with gorgeous Winter berries that complement the snowy white greenery and bright white ribbon are what make this piece a show-stopper for sure. Wow, your neighbors with this gorgeous peppermint candy wreath this Holiday season.

The candy theme is so popular with Holiday decor right now, especially all things Christmas! The vibrant red and white colors of a classic peppermint are a perfect way to highlight such a popular trend.

We are also throwing in some Christmas classics with gorgeous eucalyptus and pine greenery that comes on a wonderful bush complete with every element you need. There’s pine and eucalyptus greenery with poinsettias built into the stems with a sparkling snowy touch that glistens at just the right light. It’s the perfect way to use all your Christmas favorites in one convenient way!

With such quality elements and cute candy additions, it’s easy to create a masterpiece! We use a bow we made during Bow Wednesday that has vibrant red stripes on a gorgeous white satin ribbon that looks like a mouthwatering candy cane. It goes so well with the peppermint and other Christmas treats that adorn this design.

There is so much depth and dimension when we make sure to always layer and shape each greenery pick and twig so that they are jumping off your wreath base. It gives your eye so much more to look at and interest to draw you into the piece. I’m so excited to get started on this yummy peppermint candy wreath with ya’ll!

Directions

  • Grab each of your bushes and stems and start by “shaking hands” with the stems and leaves to fluff and make them come to life.
  • Turn your grapevine wreath base to the back and use a heavy gauge wire to add a hanger through the top.
  • Take your red snow eucalyptus with a poinsettia pick and clip the excess stem with your wire cutters.
  • Start by adding the red snow eucalyptus with poinsettia picks using hot glue on the top of your wreath base. Add another stem opposite the bottom center. Add another eucalyptus and poinsettia pick on the left side.
  • Grab your pine bush and separate it into smaller stems. Dip the ends in hot glue and add a stem next to each of your eucalyptus picks.
  • “Shake hands” and break down two white berry bushes into smaller stems. Start adding berries behind each of the poinsettias stems throughout your base.
  • Take your red and white candy picks and dip the ends in hot glue to add into the top left between your greenery on your grapevine base. Add a second red and white candy pick on the bottom. Use a small piece of snowy pine to cover the hot glue if necessary.
  • Grab the glitter peppermint candy picks and “shake hands” to shape and curl each twig. Add the peppermint candy on the left side next to your greenery.
  • Take the large peppermint candy and remove the hanger. Use a wooden dowel to pierce through the side and secure with hot glue. Stick the dowel into the bottom left side of the grapevine base so the candy is at a diagonal up through the center. Cover hot glue with Spanish moss.
  • Take your bow from Bow Wednesday using 2.5” white satin candy cane ribbon and 1.5” red and white glitter stripes and add into your bow zone using the cable tie hanger. Incorporate the ribbon tails into your design and curl up the ends with your fingers.
  • Add another curly candy pick coming out from the center of the bow. Grab a red and white small peppermint candy and hot glue it into the center of your bow.
  • Grab a few smaller berry stems and fill in any holes and add near the bow keeping some symmetry.  Use hot glue to secure.

What is breaking the plane in a wreath design

We always talk about tips and tricks in design school and in our tutorials to help make you guys into the best designers you can possibly be! Something we always like to discuss is breaking the plane in your wreath design.

In order to create a lot of depth and dimension with the supplies you are using, it’s important to break that flat plane around so the greenery and florals, or in this case whimsical candy picks, you are using have the most impact they can. Shaping them and placing them in such a way that they aren’t flat to your base but are jumping out at you with depth and dimension for days! Use this to ensure all of your designs are a success.

  • Start by finding cutting the styrofoam so it is nestled inside of the Green Frankenstein Bucket so that it sits nicely inside and glue down. I like to use both Gorilla Glue and Hot Glue to really secure it for both now and long term.
  • Cut Black Garland Base into small sections and set your base, spreading for maximum coverage.
  • Prep your picks by grabbing your Purple Green Orange Felt Ball Twig Sprays. Sseparating them into smaller picks. You can also twist the black chenille around your finger to create a fun effect.
  • Trim your Glitter Eye Ball Picks and add to the stryofoam. Be sure to space them for the best visual display.
  • Cut and prep the White Black Chenille Curly Stems add some dimension to them by curling with your fingers to really give them life.
  • Stem back and look at your your centerpiece. Are thier bald or blank spaces? Fluff you black garland to fill and use the wires in your products from Keleas.com to really get the pieces where you want them.
  • Grab one of your Glitter Curly Velvet Ball Picks and trim the stem down to a couple of inches. Fluff out your pick, and then place it to the left of your bow, tucking it behind the bow to have it peek out from behind it.
