- Start by prepping your Green Grass with Berries Swag Base. This looks like a typical bush (because it is!) but it works so well as a swag base. I like to manipulate mine a little by pulling a bit of the greenery up to face the other way, on either side of the stem, giving us a more full swag base.
- Twist your stem into a loop to give your swag a nice hanger.
- Now prep your first Berry Bush. I like to mine right on top of my swag, so I manipulated this bush to make it similar to the swag base, moving some of the leaves and berries to face down, creating a transition point in the bush.
- Attach this bush to your swag base with two cable ties, just on top of the swag base.
- Now grab your other Berry Bush and “shake hands” with it, fluffing out the berries and leaves to give the bush some dimension.
- Take that second Berry Bush and tuck it into the swag base. I like to make sure there is enough grass on top of the bush to camouflage it, then attach it using a couple of cable ties.
- Attach your bow to the area you left open for it. If you need a tutorial for the bow, check out this video! Weave the tails into your piece.
- I didn’t love the bland middle area of our swag, so I cut a couple pieces from our second Berry Bush and glued those into the middle area. This gave that middle area a little more dimension and made the piece so much more cohesive!
- And your project is finished!
TIPS AND TRICKS
- Make this project your own! Add extra charm with faux flowers, moss, or other decorative elements. Change out the greenery for a different leaf that you love more. Add a fun bow for added color. Make it yours!
- I love my glue skillet. It’s a simple skillet for the kitchen that I melt my glue sticks in to allow me to just dip my stems in and easily add them to my wreath.
- If you are worried about placement, do a dry run! You can just add your stems into the wreath without the glue and then move them around until you‘re happy with the placement. Then add your glue for your final placement!
